About Me, L. M. Shayle
Welcome! I’m L. M. Shayle, an author, artist, and poet currently residing in Canada. My venture into writing began as a child. My creativity demanded an outlet beyond drawing, so I began entertaining my younger siblings with hand-written books, complete with artwork. My passion grew alongside me, and after university, I decided to focus on it. A fan of playing around with and breaking tropes, I enjoy injecting realism and heart into tales and exploring their unique humorous, bizarre, unsettling, romantic, and emotional dimensions.
I’m currently working on publishing my first novel, and I have three self-published works available on Amazon. They are collections of short stories that explore their individual themes and I tried to combine imagination with vivid storytelling. They can be found in the book section of my shop.
The Fall of Souls: and six other twisted stories about unlikeable people
The Joke’s on Me: and six other twisted stories of absurdity and regret
The Hand in Mine: and six other twisted stories with an emotional core
When it comes to art, I tend to gravitate towards bold black-and-white designs, which started out hand-drawn and has migrated towards digital. But I do enjoy all art forms from pencil sketching to clay work. I’ve posted my artwork on Twitter and Instagram, and after much encouragement from others, I’ve gone ahead and printed some fan-favorites on apparel and other items, which you can find in my shop.
My art can also be seen in the aforementioned collections of short stories as well as in the anthology From One Line to Another, which includes some of my flash fiction and can be found in the book section of my shop.
My foray into the realm of poetry was recent, and it revealed a whole new method of expression. After taking part in poetry and haiku challenges on Twitter, I’m currently working on publishing a collection of haiku. Alongside classic poetry, I also enjoy writing unsettling poetry, at times with a humorous tint, and a book combining these poems with short stories and art is also in the works.
I’ve had chronic health issues since I was a child, and over the years, they’ve begun to take their toll on my energy, concentration, and hand steadiness. Yet despite the challenges, this hasn’t put a stop to my pursuit of passion. I hope to always be able to express my creativity and share it, and I thank you all for joining me on my journey!
